ReplyDeleteI have used the print-on-demand (P.O.D.) publisher, Arjuna’s Arrow, for one book so far, Swimmer in a Dark Sea. I am very satisfied with the results. Arjuna’s Arrow offers a range of services, giving the author a good deal of leeway as to how much of the process (cover design/selection, proof-reading, etc), he or she will deal with, versus with how is left to the publisher.
For example, for my book, I had originally intended to provide the cover myself, but the one they came up with struck me as so pleasing and effective that I was happy to concede that aspect to them. On proof-reading, the task ended up being split between Arjuna and myself. We weren’t going forward until both sides were satisfied.
